After months of internal testing and stablising the Driver Guidance System (DGS) mobile app, on 9 Sep 2017, the research team started the pilot trial of the app. A group of taxi drivers was trained on the usage of the apps which is designed to sense taxi demands (where taxi trips are) and supplies (where taxi drivers are) throughout the city.  As part of the training, drivers had a 30-min on-the-road trial of the DGS mobile app. The app aims to provide drivers guidance and recommendation on where to find passengers to increase their job prospects.

We had our first feedback session with our first batch of trial taxi drivers on 30 Oct 2017 who were eligible for the trial incentives. We had an insightful session with the drivers who shared with us their experiences using the app and areas of improvement. Drivers also looking forward to continue using the app to help them to find passengers with shorter cruising time.

On 18 & 19 Nov 2017, at the NTA Roadshow we recruited another 320 taxi drivers to join the DGS Trial. Drivers downloaded the app and were trained on the spot to use the app.
