UNiCEN team wins top prize at International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management 2017 (CIKM2017)

Our LTA research team has done UNiCEN proud by winning the top prize for the DataSpark Mobility Open-Task Challenge under the CIKM AnalytiCup 2017 at the CIKM2017 after 3 rounds of intense competition. The CIKM2017 is a premier forum for research on topics at the confluence of information retrieval, data management, and knowledge management. It brought together international and Singapore technology providers and seekers to explore technology and business collaboration opportunities through open innovation to materialize the “Smart Cities, Smart Nations” vision shared by many urban areas and the countries.

Using telco mobility data and publicly available taxi availability data, the team developed a solution which improves the quality of prediction of taxi demand for guiding taxi drivers. The solution has the potential to shorten driver empty cruising time, and in turn achieve better mobility-in-demand services.
