Registered Societies
There are currently seven self-governing student clubs that belong under the Registry of Societies of Singapore. These registered societies promote interests like political and religious awareness and tolerance within the SMU student community.

SMU Apolitical Society

ABOUT US
SMU Apolitical Society (@smuapol) was established in 2010 by Mr Mohamed Irshad, a former Nominated Member of Parliament and the founder of inter-faith organisation Roses of Peace. As SMU's first student political association, we strive to reduce political apathy, increasing awareness of local and international politics in a non-partisan manner. In addition, we seek to provide the SMU community with a respectful avenue for discussion for issues relating to public policy and social issues affecting society at-large.
Besides facilitating a free exchange of ideas and creating inclusive platforms such as Varsity Voices and dialogue sessions for youths to participate in, SMU Apol also often hosts forums and visits to political agencies.

SMU Christian Fellowship

ABOUT US
At the SMU Christian Fellowship, you can expect the following:
Faithful Bible teaching: We are devoted to teaching the Bible faithfully. We believe that the faithful teaching of the Bible is how people will become Christian and how Christians will keep growing in maturity.
A loving community: Here at SMUCF, CFers don’t just gather to read the Bible. We do life together! We pray and we play together. We study the Bible and we study in the library together. Here, you will find a loving community to journey alongside you in the faith – supporting you through the ups and downs of SMU life.
At SMUCF, as students gather to learn from God’s word together, many have had their lives changed.
Come and experience it for yourself!

SMU CRU

ABOUT US
SMU Cru is a caring community that is passionate about following Jesus Christ and connecting people to Him. Together, we learn to read the Bible through fresh lenses, support one another through active faith steps, and get equipped for global missions – starting from our very own campus. We desire to give everyone a chance to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus!
What’s more, you can expect to find a second family here! Our defining culture is that our Crusaders share authentic relationships. In SMU, we know how easy it is to be caught up with #hustleculture; Cru serves as an anchor to our identity and purpose as disciples of Christ in school. We want to be Christians who happen to be students, not students who happen to be Christians.
We would love to welcome you into our Cru family. See you!

SMU Dhamma Circle

ABOUT US
SMU Dhamma Circle is a student initiated Buddhist Society which aspires to be a community for students, Buddhist and Non Buddhists alike, to learn and live life through the practice of mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom. As a non-sectarian Buddhist society, we welcome every student to join us in our Dhamma sharing sessions and activities.
At Dhamma Circle, we have weekly sharings facilitated by our own students, alumni or guest speakers who are monastics or experienced lay practitioners. The topics discussed are catered for students, aiming to support us in navigating the challenges encountered during our young adult years. Sharings are conducted in a cosy and relaxed setting to encourage active participation and foster peer learning. We also feature meditation, an essential practice in Buddhism, in our regular activities, with each sharing starting with a 15-minute meditative practice and having at least one guided meditation workshop every semester. During recess week and summer holidays, we will organise temple tours where we visit some of Singapore's many beautiful monasteries and temples.
If you are looking for a safe and inclusive environment to learn and discuss Buddhist teachings or are just looking for a wholesome community to be a part of, look no further. We can't wait to welcome you at our sessions!

SMU FIDES

ABOUT US
SMU FIDES is a Catholic faith community consisting of Catholic students in SMU who desire to build a community centred around Jesus Christ. We have around 70 people who gather weekly for formation sessions and fellowship, and meet for weekday masses as we strive to grow in our faith lives together.
Most of us are also involved in cell groups (CG), where we meet in small gender-based groups (5-7 people) weekly to journey in our faith through school together.

SMU Muslim Society

ABOUT US
SMUMS is a student-initiated organisation that aims to serve the Muslim community in SMU and society at large for the betterment of humanity. Grounded by the vision to forge an environment that enjoins good and forbids evil, SMUMS hopes to provide the spark for a journey of self-improvement through initiatives, good character and an inclusive environment. We strive to be a compassionate Muslim student body which strives and encourages each other in seeking the pleasure of Allah SWT (mardhatillah).
Under SMUMS, we have an executive committee (exco) & three student-initiated ad hoc wings: SMU Islamic Business and Finance Society (SMU IBFS), Creative Content, and Supplication Sundays. SMU IBFS promotes interest in Islamic business, law, economics, and related fields among students in Singapore. Supplication Sundays shares Islamic reminders every Sunday on Instagram. Creative Content hosts the "Salam SMUSlims" podcast on Spotify, discussing Islamic topics, everyday life, and various relatable subjects!

SMU Sikh Society

ABOUT US
SMU Sikh Society intends to connect the SMU community with the rich heritage of the Sikhs, while forming a strong support group to help students find an escape from the several pressures of University. We provide opportunities for students to network on both professional and social platforms; and for them to appreciate the vibrant culture and history of the Sikhs. The key values that Sikhs are encouraged to uphold are honesty, compassion, generosity, humility, integrity, service, and spirituality. We hope to share this element of our culture as it would help enrich the larger SMU community.
Now entering a new generation of the CCA, we have decided to spice things up a little (literally *hint*). Other than our usual club events like temple visits and interfaith dialogues, we are also planning to have new and diverse set of activities - think fitness, food and fun. We also are planning to adopt new initiatives to contribute back to our community - with club-led projects in the works.
True to our culture, there’ll never be a dull moment! Join our family to gain knowledge, excitement and lifelong friends who will help to build your own identity as a student in SMU.
