With a mixture of dazzling footwork and sizzling moves, we strive to bring passion to the Latin Ballroom Dance scene by reinventing boundaries and presenting Latin Ballroom in a modern light!
SMU Ardiente is the home of SMU latin dancers. We specialise in 5 dances -

SMU Artdicted
ABOUT US
SMU Artdicted organises ad-hoc workshops and monthly art jams of differing art mediums that cater to the interest and learning of our members. The club aims to provide a platform for students to achieve holistic development both as an artist and as a leader in initiating and managing art-related events in SMU.
Our club is a family where students can form camaraderie and express themselves through our art programmes regardless of their art skills and background.

SMU Ballare

ABOUT US
SMU Ballare is a prominent standard ballroom dance club in Singapore. Established in 2008, the club performs and competes in 5 genres of dance: Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep. SMU Ballare has since won accolades in numerous notable local and international Dancesport competitions.

Established in 2004, Singapore Management University Broadcast & Entertainment (SMUBE) provides specialised entertainment support through its four wings - Artiste Management Team, Campus Radio, Campus Television, and Events & Backstage, with the support of our Marketing & Public Relations department.

SMU Caderas Latinas

ABOUT US
Since its establishment in 2004, SMU Caderas Latinas has been recognized as SMU’s premier salsa performance team. Considered the forerunner amongst other Tertiary salsa teams, the club is known for its adrenaline-pumping and show-stopping performances!
Freshies can look forward to becoming part of a committed team, gaining a variety of dance skills such as body awareness, muscle isolation, and musicality, while participating in multiple performances. New dancers will learn how to freestyle in salsa as an individual (known as "shines") and with a partner (known as "social dancing").
Competitive opportunities include both Singapore and abroad, as enumerated in our awards list. At the end of four years, members will have gained a wealth of experiences in performance, production, and individual expression - and most importantly, a family!

SMU Chamber Choir

ABOUT US
Formed in 2007 by five enthusiastic choristers, the SMU Chamber Choir is one of the most prestigious arts clubs in SMU. The choir-family of undergrads and alumni continues to grow and learn from a wide repertoire and diverse experiences, in quest of artistic excellence. In addition to the annual Wrinkles in the Air concert, the Choir carols every year, performs for school events and for community outreach programmes, and in special collaborations.

SMU Chinese Orchestra

ABOUT US
Since its inception in 2009, SMU Chinese Orchestra (SMUCO) has distinguished itself through various cross-disciplinary works and creative programming under the baton of Quek Ling Kiong. In 2019, SMUCO celebrated its 10th anniversary with a commemorative concert Perfect 10 - FM SMUCO. While COVID-19 had paused live performances, SMUCO continued to be creative and adaptable through presenting virtual performances such as the 2020 production, To Gather as part of the SMU Arts Fest. In 2022, SMUCO returned to the physical stage with Spring Rhapsodies. SMUCO celebrated its 15th year with GLOR1OU5 in 2023, performing to over 600 people. Today, under the direction of Artistic Consultant Quek Ling Kiong and Principal Conductor Heng Xiangle, SMUCO continues to pursue its passion for Chinese Orchestral music, preserving traditions whilst incorporating contemporary influences, and endeavours to always deliver exceptional music to its audience.
SMU Eurhythmix
ABOUT US
SMU Eurhythmix, or affectionately known as EMIX, is SMU’s premier Hip-Hop club. Known for its professionalism, showmanship, and technicality, EMIX’s mission is to “train and provide dancers with opportunities and exposure to hip-hop, to guide them to their maximum potential and inculcate a strong passion for hip-hop”. Beyond quality choreographies, every performance is put up with the aim of resonating with the audience, and bringing across relatable messages with a tint of humour. This has made EMIX’s signature bi-annual productions “Timeless” and “RAW” widely anticipated.
Under the guidance of our Resident Choreographers, Gin Lam and Derrick Ng, who are both well-known in the local dance scene, EMIX has attained many prestigious titles, and was even crowned Champions in Super 24 in 2018.
Be it suave, intricate choreographies or crisp hard hitting beats, EMIX is sure to deliver a captivating show. Come join our vibrant family full of passionate individuals, where we hope to fill your dance journey with growth and fond memories!
SMU Funk Movement
ABOUT US
SMU Funk Movement (SMUFM) is a street style dance club that specialises in the funk styles Popping and Locking. Established in 2013, SMUFM aims to develop a close-knitted community of passionate funk-style dancers who value Respect, Humility and Discipline. Ranging from choreographies to freestyle sessions and dance battles, dancers from SMUFM take pride in their art form.
Dancers often participate in external dance battles, representing the club in numerous events such as Funk Academia Vol. 5, Over & Over Vol. 2 and Under One Groove. With constant guidance and support from our seniors, members can empower each other to develop their craft and encourage others to step out of their comfort zone.
DID YOU KNOW?
We are beginner friendly! Majority of our club members started off with zero background in dance.
FM people are around school all day to dance. We dance anywhere, anytime. As long as there is a speaker and good music, we are down!

SMU Guitarissimo

ABOUT US
SMU Guitarissimo is SMU’s resident Niibori guitar ensemble. Established in August 2000, it is one of SMU's oldest musical groups. Adopting the style of the Niibori guitar ensemble, the club comprises these main sections — Alto 1, Alto 2, Prime, Bass, Contrabass and Guitarron.
With the motto “Passion~Heart~Soul.”, the club continues to be an open community and platform for enthusiastic guitarists on campus. It aims to provide platforms for members to showcase their skills, develop their musical talents, and share their love, heart and soul for guitar-playing while performing diverse genres of music, from classical to contemporary. New friendships, bonds, knowledge and joy are what our members can expect in their journey with us.
The club is guided by Mr Ow Leong San, who is also a part of Xpose Guitar Ensemble. Under his guidance, the spirit of playing together as an ensemble and the different guitar playing techniques are instilled in our members.

SMU INDANCITY

ABOUT US
Founded in 2006, SMU INDANCITY is SMU's official contemporary dance club. Under the guidance of artistic director Hong Guofeng and technique master Andy Benjamin Cai, the club strives to uphold high standards of technique and professionalism. Besides our annual production – BEYOND, we are also regularly involved in school performances and hold classes for the public to encourage an appreciation of the contemporary art form. Most recently, we held our internal showcase, NUANCE, where dancers were given the opportunity to choreograph their own piece under an overarching theme. At INDANCITY, we aim to nurture dancers into competent and confident individuals, able to fully express themselves through art and movement.

SMU Ivory Keys

ABOUT US
SMU Ivory Keys is SMU’s very own piano ensemble club that unites students from diverse backgrounds who share a passion for music, regardless of genre. We play solos, accompaniment, 4-hand duets, trios, concertos and more! Founded in 2007, we aim to provide our members with a platform to refine their skills, enhance their showmanship and promote a greater appreciation for piano music within the SMU community.
We organise and participate in piano concerts for the SMU community and beyond. For instance, in 2019, we participated in the bicentennial edition of iLight Singapore, themed Keys of Light. In 2022, we held our first physical production since the pandemic, themed “A New Start”.
Even post-COVID, we are still active in the online space, uploading a brand new piano performance on our YouTube channel every Saturday at 6pm. We also collaborate with other music clubs and instruments, such as SMU Guitarissimo on Patron’s Day 2022, and SMU Symphonia and SMU Chinese Orchestra in 2023.
The club’s current coach is Ms Yeong Lan-Ing, a part-time lecturer with the National Institute of Education/Nanyang Technological University (NTU), an instrumental tutor at German European School Singapore and the piano ensemble instructor for NTU, Raffles Institution (Junior College), SMU, and Singapore Polytechnic.

SMU Literati (Literature & Writing)

ABOUT US
As a member of the Arts and Cultural Fraternity (ACF), SMU Literati devotes itself to promoting the expression of the written and spoken word amongst SMU students. In a business school where staid academic literature reigns supreme, Literati strives to remind students of the fun in appreciating literature at leisure.
So come, partake in Singapore's literary scene alongside us! Find catharsis in Literati's Writing Competitions, and hone your craft by exchanging feedback with fellow writers at Writing Circle sessions. Publish your works in Literati's collaborations with various other SMU clubs, as well as our yearly anthology. A wide variety of other activities also awaits you, as Literati regularly plans initiatives with external organisations such as Migrant Workers of Singapore, Cat Welfare Society and more. If you're inclined to read our works, you may even anticipate Literati's anthology--slated to be published this year!

SMU Malay Language and Cultural Club (SMU MLCC)

ABOUT US
SMU Malay Language & Cultural Club (MLCC) aims to create a greater awareness and appreciation of our arts while cultivating strong bonds within the community, in and out of SMU. We have two performing arts wings - Rentak and Persadamu.
Rentak is the only Malay percussion ensemble at the tertiary level. Under the guidance of Singapore’s prominent Malay performing artists, members will learn about different Malay instruments and their various playing styles. Throughout the year, members also get multiple opportunities to perform! Some of our recent performances include performing at World Drum Night, SMU Arts Fest and many more! Interested? Persadamu is our biennial theatre production through which members bring to light pertinent issues found within the Malay community. It is a ground-up initiative of student-led teams with mentorship from distinguished figures in the Malay arts scene. You will get to learn the ins and outs of a production - acting, scriptwriting, producing, stage management and more!
Aside from our performing arts wings, MLCC also organises a multitude of bonding events such as lepak night, sport events, budaya workshops, and educational talks!

SMU Samba Masala

Incepted in 2004, SMU’s resident Afro-Brazillian percussion band began as a humble dhol percussion group. Since then, Samba Masala has taken on both local and international stages and wowed audiences to establish itself as an esteemed batucada. Having enthralled audiences worldwide in the USA, United Kingdom and Germany, we pride ourselves on our endless enthusiasm, passionate performances, and bold beats.
Under the tutelage of Singapore’s leading percussionists, members will experience a vibrant 2-year journey that starts with learning the basics of their instrument. In no time, even those without prior musical experience will be able to captivate audiences through our unique beats and sheer showmanship. SMU SoundFoundry

ABOUT US
SoundFoundry is a CCA for people with a passion for music. Our members are exposed to a myriad of music-related activities, including but not limited to: instrument techniques, recording, production and band dynamic techniques. Members can form bands and perform through various channels, such as through internal recordings and productions, school-wide events, and even external gigs.
Our CCA provides both quality musical training for our members and the freedom and creativity to make their own music. SoundFoundry frequently sources for performance and recording opportunities to allow members to perform, as well as take ownership for their musical growth. Students eager to join can expect to be challenged musically and grow as a musician in an inclusive and open-minded community.

SMU Stageit

ABOUT US
Stageit is SMU’s premier theatre club, providing its students the platform to hone their craft and build a fun, loving and tight-knit community!
Established in 2002, students are given the opportunity to delve into the numerous aspects of theatre namely acting, script writing, directing, producing and the behind the scenes of what makes a drama a success.
In addition, our trainings and rehearsals can make you confident, sharpen your communication skills, stimulate your creativity, and connect you with fellow students!
If you’ve always wanted to be on Broadway, then joining Stageit is a no brainer!
While our productions and rehearsals are fun, they also have purpose. We aim to make meaningful theatre experiences, touching on subjects that deserve to be talked about. We believe everyone has a voice, and art is a way to amplify these voices!

SMU Stereometa

ABOUT US
Stereometa, SMU’s Disc-Jockey (DJ) club, is becoming one of the most exciting tertiary DJ collectives in the nightlife industry. Stereometa explores music without bounds, and we are dedicated to equipping our members with adequate DJ skills so they can freely express themselves through whatever genre of music they like. Stereometa has helmed the decks for establishments such Cherry Discotheque, Drip, Ark 11, Sentosa Sandbar and Revelry Entertainment in 2023 alone and continuously seeks new opportunities for their members to showcase their creativity!

SMU Symphonia

Established in 2003, SMU Symphonia has grown into a full-fledged wind and strings symphonic group engaging in various music genres and art forms. They pride themselves as music enthusiasts who strive to emulate the values of Music, Friends, and Fun through their annual productions. They operate under the guidance of their resident conductor, Mr. Adrian Chiang.

SMU VOIX

SMU VOIX is SMU’s premier A Cappella club comprising passionate singers and vocal percussionists that seek to achieve greatness in the art form. Using only our voices, we are highly dedicated to presenting performances of high professionalism and entertainment value. Having emerged as champions in the Singapore A Cappella Championships amongst many other A Cappella groups, SMU VOIX continues to strive for excellence and quality in our performance, bringing joy to whoever hears us within the campus and beyond.

SMUSAIC (Photography)

ABOUT US
Founded in 2002, SMUSAIC is SMU’s flagship photography club dedicated to promoting photographic literacy, passion, and appreciation for the arts. We are a tight-knit community seeking to hone our crafts through the sharing and learning of insights from one another.
You will be assured of an enriching experience through workshops, photo walks and annual exhibitions. These activities stretch over a range of photography styles, from studio and street to film and portraiture.
You do not have to possess any camera gears.
We will equip you with the knowledge.
