UNiCEN首先专注于两个方面的研究：
- 动态的移动管理（Dynamic Mobility Management，DMM）
- 海事／港口的优化调度（Maritime and Port Optimisation，MPO）
两者之间存在以下共同特征：
- 提升都市环境下对人群和物流的管理。
- 侧重于解决人群疏散、交通拥堵和排队等相关问题。
- 在资源紧缺的前提下，给定一段时间内可支配的供给容量，实现供给与需求的智能匹配，特别是对于需求动态变化和突发高峰的情景。
