SMU International Connections (ICON) is a standing committee under SMUSA.
SMU ICON champions integration efforts on campus and celebrates cultural diversity among local and international students by organising events and programmes to showcase the unique cultures and talents present in the diverse campus population. ICON spearheads initiatives that build friendships between international and local students. Through their 13 cultural clubs, the committee welcomes both international and Singaporean members, who come together to plan activities for the SMU community to enhance cross-cultural understanding.

SMU Francophiles

We are a Cultural Club under ICON, spreading love and appreciation for the culture, food, sports, people, fashion and history of France through our events.
When you join Francophiles you can expect to discover French culture through fun activities while you bond with people from diverse backgrounds within the SMU Community.
You will also get a chance to pick up a new language, through our language lessons and learn more about the widely appreciated French cuisine and comfort food, through our workshops.
Moving forward, Francophiles strives to engage SMU students in action-packed yet authentic events that make them feel as though they are halfway across the world, in France.
Francophiles was born when a group of students who were studying French as an elective at SMU thought of forming a group for like-minded students who wanted to cultivate a deeper understanding of the French and European Culture in the SMU Community.

SMU Indian Cultural Society at the Singapore Management University is dedicated to facilitating the appreciation and growth of the Indian Culture and the welfare of its members in SMU. The SMU Myanmar Community is a welcoming community that acts as the representative body for Burmese students in SMU.
It is the go to place in SMU to learn more about Myanmar, ranging from culture, tourism to even business opportunities there. For Burmese students in SMU, it is a home away from home where they can reconnect to their roots and network. We also welcome non-Burmese students who seek to join a warm, tight-knit community and forge bonds with diverse individuals.

SMU Roots prides itself as a club that constantly creates and innovates unpredictable and exciting events for students to bridge friendships and experience Singapore’s authentic culture. Our aim is to bring people of different nationalities together, through engaging activities and events to expose non-locals to Singapore’s culture and remind locals of their roots of their Singapore identity.

Truly Malaysia aims to connect Malaysians in SMU and serve as a home away from home for Malaysians. We also celebrate and share the Malaysian culture and spirit.
The CCA organises activities that allow Malaysians to bond and network with one another. We also aim to spread the knowledge of the rich and diverse culture that Malaysia has with non-Malaysians in school.
SMU Woori Sayi

SMU Woori Sayi was established with the aim of promoting and inculcating a love for Korean Culture through fun-filled events that feature Korean games, food, pop culture, drama, history, and more!

SMU Yim Siam

SMU Yim Siam is a Thai cultural club with a mission to share the Thai culture and lifestyle with the SMU community. Inspired by Thailand’s charming culture of smiles, our club name, Yim Siam translates to ‘A Country of Smiles’ with ‘Yim’ meaning smiles and ‘Siam’ being the former name of Thailand. Known as the ‘club of smiles’ , we aim to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation for the Thai culture while weaving in the concept of ‘smile at every event’. Appreciation is nurtured through the introduction of Thai food, language, arts, games and the sharing of cultural significance and meaning. Aside from being a window to the Thai culture in SMU, we also aim to form a close community of like-minded people who will serve as a supporting pillar for each member.
